How to play a 3D crossword.
Learn Across, Down and Deep with a three-word tutorial. Explore crossings, keyboard controls and 2D layers. No account needed.
One cube, three directions
Each cube holds one letter. Across runs left to right, Down runs top to bottom, and Deep runs front to back. At a crossing, the same cube supplies a letter to every word passing through it.
Think of three paths meeting at one starting cube: one extends to the right, one below it, and one behind it. The paths share their first letter; their remaining cubes head in different directions. The tutorial below lets you try this with three short words.
Choose a clue and type
- Select a clue or a cube to choose a word.
- Type in the letter boxes. You can also paste an answer. Shared letters fill their crossing automatically.
- Use the left and right arrows to move between letter boxes. Enter selects the next clue; Shift+Enter selects the previous one.
- At a crossing, press Space or click the cube again to switch words.
See inside the puzzle
Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, and right-drag or use two fingers to pan. Front, Top, Side and Perspective give you preset views. Focus word fades other cubes. Choose 2D layers to explore one flat depth layer at a time, including on a device without 3D support.
Checks, reveals and saved progress
Check marks incorrect letters in the selected word. Reveal letter fills the active cube. Completion requires every letter to be correct. Your progress saves on this device; signing in lets regular and daily attempts sync to your account. Tutorial attempts stay separate from your regular puzzles.
